Fingers of Science

I did not take these pictures. Well, I did take them, from the internet. For the past ten years I've been reading a science aggregator, on the weekends, looking for interesting articles, because I'm interested in science fiction. But something happened along the way. I noticed what I will call a class of "science imagery" that's used to illustrate "science articles" about new discoveries. This class of images, I wish maybe someone else could come up with a better name, it's when the scientist takes their discovery or their invention and holds it in between their fingers, and the camera zooms-in so we're looking at a close-up of said discovery or invention. Sometimes the scientist is in the background, a fuzzy face in safety goggles. Always they're wearing rubber gloves, and I get excited when I see certain colors of gloves, for example bone-white gloves, because that never happens.
